The White Dragon (or white wyrm) is one of the original symbols of the English, dating back to before the Cross of St George. The version being flown by several people in the image is a modern reinvention, the only known early versions being that of a 'draco' or windsock. Similar dragons are seen on the Bayeaux Tapestry in early form.
